We are delighted to announce that goal machine Nathan Cartman has committed to Scarborough Athletic for the forthcoming season.
The 30-year-old has been a regular on the scoresheet at this level and the league above for a number of seasons, playing for Farsley Celtic, Darlington, Harrogate Railway among others.
Boss Darren Kelly moved quickly after Cartman left Farsley and saw off a number of rivals to add him to the Boro squad.
An overjoyed Kelly said: "Nathan fits perfectly into what we are building at Scarborough Athletic. He is a real statement of intent, due to the fact he is a proven goalscorer, who will bring more experience and professionalism to the squad".
"Nathan has been successful at every club he has been at, we are delighted to bring him in because he is a big coup for the club. When next season finally comes around we will be basing much of our play on the attacking side of things, which is what Nathan is all about."
Kelly believes that bringing in players from divisions above is important, but only if they are the right player. He added: "If players become available in divisions above then obviously we will be interested, but only if we have had them watched and if they share our vision".
"The foundations have been done in creating a good dressing room because that is so important.
Mistakes have been made in the past, if a player becomes a disruptive influence then it can really affect what we are trying to achieve. In contrast, Nathan will be brilliant for our dressing room because he is a great lad and will bring so much to us."
