Scarborough Athletic Supporters Club have presented a cheque to the Scarborough Athletic Junior sides to fund the cost of the new defibrillator located at Filey Community Sports Club.

Ken Pattison of the Supporters Club proudly presented the cheque of £834 to Director, Paul Exley at Filey Community Sports Club, home of the Scarborough Athletic FC Junior sides for match days.

The new portable defibrillator was purchased to provide support in the event of a cardiac arrest. A defibrillator is a device that sends an electric shock to the heart of someone in cardiac arrest, which is an important part of saving a person's life. Training on how to use the equipment will be provided to key personnel in the unfortunate event of the equipment having to be used.

Filey Community Sports Club has a number of grass pitches, utilised by Scarborough Athletic Juniors and other community clubs. Scarborough Athletic FC has teams ranging from Under 7's through to Under 16's, all playing home fixtures at the facility.

Thank you to the Supporters Club who have funded the cost of the defibrillator, which could save somebody's life. A plaque is displayed at Filey as a legacy to the donation of the defibrillator by the Supporters Club.n
