Boro set for York City trip

Scarborough Athletic travel to York City's Bootham Crescent for the first time on Saturday afternoon when they tackle the National League North club in a pre-season friendly, 1pm.

Boro have twice met up with the Minstermen on home soil since their formation in 2007, losing one at Bridlington in the North Riding FA Senior Cup and gaining revenge in the same competition last season.

Fans will fondly remember the battles between York and Scarborough FC in the 1990s and 2000s, though there was little success for Boro at YO30 7AQ.

The last meeting in the league was on Boxing Day 2005, with York running out 3-1 winners.

Twelve months earlier though, Boro produced a snatch and grab 2-0 victory with Tony Hackworth and Chris Senior scoring the goals.

Prior to that, Boro's only other wins on the road at York in competitive games were a 2-1 success in February of 1990 and a 3-1 FA Cup win in November of 1932.

There have been a number of links between the clubs over the years and that remains with Boro's current squad.

Michael Coulson, Dave Merris and Flynn McNaughton all featured for York's first team, while Kian Spence played for the club's junior set-up.

The entry prices for tomorrow's game will be £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Away admittance is via Grosvenor Road with access to seating in the Poplar Stand.
