Making It Happen

We are happy to announce that our application for the development of the Flamingo Land Stadium is available to view on the Scarborough Borough Council Planning website. Whilst not wanting to pre-empt any key decisions, we feel confident that the quality of our research and design is such that approval can be attained in the New Year.  Alongside this application, we have bid for funds from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and, again, we feel confident that the quality of our bid will lead to it being successful when the panel sit at the end of January.

We are grateful to our main bid partner, Scarborough Borough Council, for their support and advice throughout the process.  We have formed a project group with the council and Everyone Active to drive the development forward and provide the type of facilities our fans deserve.  Also, this project would not be possible without the valued support of Gordon Gibb and Flamingo Land.

After discussions with our Supporters Club, they have also joined the bid and development project, providing the funding for 8 new wheelchair bays in the current stand.  Members of the Supporters Club have always provided their services as volunteers on match days as well as funding a variety of club activities and projects.  Their commitment to such a large and key development is very much appreciated and is a testament to the renewed sense of purpose provided by the reformed committee.

The total on the “Stand Together” Crowdfunding appeal (www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/newstand) continues to grow and we thank everyone who has contributed to date and ask those who have not to get behind our plans and give what you can.  With other contributions, the total now stands at just over £11,000 (37%).  We intend to continue to raise funds throughout the season with a series of organised events as well as supporting actions organised by supporters themselves, such as the sponsored walk to Whitby on New Year’s Day by the two Daves, Hunter and Morgan.  If you have a fund raising idea of your own, contact the club and we will support you in any way we can.

Exciting times both on and off the field!

“Up the Boro!”
