Club Announces New Faces for 2018/19

Scarborough Athletic FC are delighted to announce five new additions ahead of the step up to the Evo-Stik Premier Division next season.

Firstly, First team manager Steve Kittrick has agreed a two year deal following the success of last season and the club’s ambitions to gain promotion to the National League North in 2018/19. The club are delighted Steve has agreed to continue in the role as his experience in the game has been invaluable. The club has rewarded Kittrick for achieving what we set out to achieve in the club’s first season back home in Scarborough. Joining Steve next season are a number of new and familiar faces.

Winger Wayne Brooksby will be joining the ranks for the 2018/19 campaign after deciding to move from National League North side Bradford Park Avenue.  The winger, who scored eight goals for The Avenue last season now joins Steve Kittrick’s side for the new 2018/19 campaign. After spending his youth career with the centre of excellence at Scarborough FC, the 28-year-old went on to play for Scarborough Town in the Wearside League, before progressing up the divisions to enjoy spells atNorth Ferriby United, Guiseley, Harrogate Town and most recently Bradford Park Avenue. Brooksby has played his part in a couple of promotions in recent years, scoring in North Ferriby’s play-off final win over AFC Fylde in 2015/16 as the Villagers moved up to the National League, plus helping Guiseley make the same jump up in 2014/15.

Also making the move to play at the Flamingo Land Stadium next season is central midfielder Leon Scott from Darlington FC. The 31-year-old has made over 200 appearances for the Quakers in six successful years, to achieve three promotions from the Northern League up to the National League North. Scott is now looking to replicate that part of that journey at Scarborough Athletic.

Centre-back Ross Killock has also joined the Boro squad ahead of the new campaign. The 23-year-old arrives from fellow Evo-Stik Premier side Stalybridge Celtic after making 26 appearances last season following his move to Bower Fold in September 2017. The defender spent much of his youth career at Leeds United, heading out to gain experience on loan at Alfreton, Chester FC, Halifax Town and Stockport County during his time at Elland Road. Following his release from Leeds at the start of the 2016/17 season, Killock made a permanent switch to Chester, although his appearances were limited due to injury before the move to Stalybridge.

Defender Josh Lacey is the fourth new addition to have been persuaded to link up with Scarborough Athletic for next season. The 23-year-old leaves as the longest serving player at Trinity, having made over 150 appearances. Comfortable on the left or right of the defence, Lacey ended last season with a loan spell at Cleethorpes Town.

Former Harrogate Town loanee Bailey Gooda has agreed terms with the club for 2018/19 after impressing since his loan move in the latter end of 2017/18 which saw the seadogs gain promotion. The centre half who is comfortable on the ball, finished the season as a favourite with the club and we are delighted Bailey can continue to be a seadog for 2018/19.

Steve has also agreed terms with last year’s successful squad including Tommy Taylor, Jack Johnson, Jimmy Beadle, Luke Dean, James Cadman, Lewis Sugden, Dave Merris and Nathan Valentine to rejoin the club for the new season with talks still ongoing with other players.

The club is delighted to welcome all the signings both new and returning to the club for 2018/19.

Further reaction from Steve, new signings and the club will follow.
