**GAME ON** Preview: Boro aiming to see off Atherton
By Joe Usher
GAME ON - see you at the Flamingo Land Stadium for a 3pm KO
Scarborough Athletic will be looking to build on Tuesday night's Integro League Cup win over Ossett Town by picking up three points against Atherton Collieries at the Flamingo Land Stadium on Saturday (3pm KO).
Tommy Taylor in action against Ossett Town in midweek
Atherton are in their first ever season as an Evo-Stik League club, having spent the previous 35 seasons in the North West Counties League. Just three seasons ago they were champions of the NWCL first division, finishing seven points clear of runners-up Cammell Laird. They went on to win the Premier Division championship last season, to gain promotion to the Evo-Stik League for the first time in their history.
The Colls sit 16th in the Evo-Stik North table after an indifferent start to the season, with only two away wins to their name, however they do have games in hand on the sides above and a win tomorrow could see them go as high as 12th. The problem seems to be goals for Michael Clegg's side, with Atherton ranked the joint second lowest scorers in the league with Goole on 19 goals, with only Ossett Albion scoring less.
Jimmy Beadle scores the winner against Ossett Town on Tuesday night
Scarborough edged back on track on Tuesday with that midweek cup success at the Flamingo Land Stadium. Boro go into the game sitting 4th in the league with games in hand on the sides above them. There has been a change in the guard this week. Steve Kittrick losing Chris Bolder to North Ferriby United, but the Seadogs boss has moved quickly to replace him with former Sheffield FC and Matlock Town boss Mark Hume. Subject to receiving international clearance, new signing Lewis Sugden is set to join up with his new side.
James Walshaw looks to have shaken off a knock to the ribs that forced his early substitution against Ossett Town on Tuesday to be fit for weekend.
"It wasn't very comfortable trying to get to sleep after the game but it's been getting better ever since" said the striker, speaking on Wednesday.
