Defender Knowles joins Boro

Scarborough Athletic are pleased to confirm the signing of defender James Knowles.

The 34-year-old has joined the club from National League North side Bradford Park Avenue following his release last week.

Knowles leaves Avenue after three spells at the West Yorkshire side, sitting in fifth place in the all-time club appearances chart after making over 200 appearances. The popular centre-back played a key role in keeping Mark Bower’s side up last season with 26 appearances after re-joining in October 2016.

Knowles has also enjoyed a two-year spell at FC United of Manchester from 2014 to 2016 and spent time playing for FC Halifax Town and Farsley Celtic.

The defender trained with the Boro squad for the first time on Wednesday night (pictured) and signed his registration forms and is set to make his debut in the Evo-Stik North game away at Prescot Cables on Saturday.
