Match Report: Boro smash past Workington (HIGHLIGHTS and INTERVIEWS)

Scarborough Athletic advanced through to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Workington AFC.

Steve Kittrick’s side got off to a fast start with Luke Dean sending a ferocious 30-yard strike tipped over by Aaran Taylor, before Max Wright let fly with a volley that was turned behind.

The only goal came early in the second half as Valentine seized on a loose ball, flicked under the keeper to give Boro the lead.

Workington pushed hard for an equaliser, as Scott Allison struck the crossbar with a back post header, with the assistant waving away appeals for a goal as the ball bounced down.

Sub Emile Sinclair struck the foot of the post late on with a lob, but the home side held on.
