Bucket collection for Sports Traider

A bucket collection will be held at the next two home games, asking supporters to donate £1 to support the valuable work of Sports Traider.

Founded in 2009 in Bedford by Lance Haggith, the 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero winner, Sports Traider is dedicated to helping UK youngsters discover and fulfil their sporting potential, whatever their background, ability or disability.

Sports Traider have established a number of charity shops in the UK, specialising in sports kit and equipment affordable to all. Proceeds of the sales of kit and equipment and donations generated are distributed to sustainable ways of helping disadvantaged young people participate in sport.

Sports Traider channel all the money they raise back into grass-roots sport within the community area from which it was donated. They encourage kids to try new sports and help talented sporting youngsters excel. For example, by organising community sport coaching sessions, access to sporting facilities, helping with club fees or transportation, getting talented but disadvantaged athletes to training and events. Sports Traider firmly believe that community sport is an essential part of society and should be available for all, and never an inaccessible luxury.

With the impending return of football to Scarborough this summer and as a community club, Scarborough Athletic FC support the values of Sports Traider and hope the supporters of Scarborough Athletic FC can give what they can for the local youth and sporting community.

Bucket collections will be available at home games on Saturday 11th March when Scarborough play Kendal and Saturday 25th March Boro take on Glossop North End.
